RE/MAX (Real Estate Maximum) International was founded and is still owned by David and Gail Liniger in 1973 in Denver, Colorado. Due to its franchise system, today it has more than 7,200 offices in more than 80 countries with around 90,000 total agents. Its agents act as independent contractors that pay monthly and annual dues for the corporate services RE/MAX provides, including agent training and advertising.
RE/MAX started with 21 agents in 1973 with the concept of letting any buyer or seller walk into an office and know they are speaking with professional and experienced agents. Liniger was not interested in part-time agents and instead wanted those that are serious about the real estate industry.
RE/MAX has residential and commercial real estate services in the United States, Canada, and worldwide. Its worldwide franchises are found in Asia, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, Southern Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Each franchise is independently owned and operated.
Today RE/MAX is one of the top real estate franchises with listings in thousands of cities and towns across the globe. RE/MAX agents support various nonprofit organizations around the world through their RE/MAX Cares program. Since 1992, the company has raised more than $115 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through fundraising for sick and injured children. In 2009, RE/MAX became a National Sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Operation RE/MAX helps military families begin a career in real estate. Military spouses, veterans and transitioning personnel can find available jobs, including office manager, accountant and real estate agents, by contacting a local RE/MAX office. For five years in a row, RE/MAX has been recognized as a Top Military Spouse Employer by Military Spouse Magazine.
RE/MAX Continues to be Honored with Prestigious Awards
Just this year, the Real Trends Canadian 250 survey named RE/MAX brokerages in 161 of the 250 spots. RE/MAX held the most spots in the previous two years as well, which shows that they are successfully selling homes and completing the most transactions for their Canadian customers.
Two other surveys have recognized RE/MAX agents this year. The 2012 Real Trends 500 and the RIS Media Power Broker surveys name RE/MAX agents as being the most productive. The surveys show that RE/MAX franchises are the most helpful to U.S. homebuyers and sellers.
